Eastry, Sunday 11th June 2023
This year we’ll be meeting up at Eastry, near Sandwich in Kent, for our annual pique-nique, which will be held in the village hall there. The village lies on the former Roman road linking Dover with the Roman camp at Richborough. Today the beautiful St. Mary’s church, dating from the 13th century is the oldest building in Eastry.
After the picque-nique we plan to visit the pretty town of Sandwich nearby, to stroll around its narrow lanes and admire the medieval half-timbered buildings, the fine Guildhall, and St. Peter’s church dating from the 14th century and surmounted by a cupola in Flemish style.
For members of Friends of Marcq the price is great value at £25 per head. Book your place by contacting Kathryn Keenleyside or use our contact form.
